Drift
Cup 2008 Basics behind Drift Cup
Drift
Cup was created around one main ambition- to expand
awareness and participation in a contemporary configuration
of motor sports known as Drifting. With the creation
of Drift Cup we contribute to event promotion, retail
sales of after market tuning parts, merchandising,
and, most substantial, creating partnerships with
other individuals and organizations who have the same
goal.
Basics
of Judging In drifting, entrants are judged and
awarded points based upon their control and ability
of driving their vehicle. Car control is defined as
demonstrating techniques that carry speed while holding
a high slip angle and maintaining the proper racing
line through a prescribed course. At the start of
the competition, all entrants compete in solo runs
that are judged and awarded points based off the control
the driver has.
Championship
Points Championship points shall be given to drivers
finishing in the top 8 places. The points shall be
distributed as follows:
1st-
20
2nd- 18
3rd- 16
4th- 14
5th- 12
6th- 10
7th - 8
8th- 6
Season
There
will be no less than three points events in a season.
Point's events may be added to the season at any time,
at the discretion of Drift Cup, with fair notice given.
After the final points event of the season, the top-scoring
entrant will be declared season champion. In the case
of a point tie, a final run-off between the top finishers
will be held in a manner to be determined by the Director
of Drifting. The number of events and the manner in
which points will be counted towards the final score
for the championship will be determined at the beginning
of the season in which the championship will be held.
Qualification
The specific qualification format for an event will
be detailed in the Supplementary Regulations issued
for each event but may be modified by the race director
on the day of the event if deemed necessary. In the
case where no qualification is required, any participant
is eligible for the competition portion of the event,
but otherwise a driver must qualify to compete. The
race director will choose the starting order on the
day of the event. The race director will determine
the amount qualification runs on the day of the event
based upon how many participants and time allotted.
Each driver is guaranteed two qualification runs to
demonstrate consistency.
Competition
Format
After
qualification, entrants will be paired off in high-low
qualification order pairs. Competition brackets will
be formed initially from the best 16. The race director
may alter this. Qualified entrants will compete in
single-elimination brackets and advance towards finals.
The two losers and two winners from the final four
brackets will compete against one another to determine
first and third places, respectively.
Regulations
of the Event
Other events and organizations have similar rules
and regulations to ensure not only your safety, but
others as well. It is capable for spectators, entrants,
and officials to enjoy their participation while basic
regulations are followed. If failure to follow these
regulations, not only is this risking the safety of
other participants, but severe consequences shall
proceed such as excellent from the event itself, refusal
to future participation, and possibly the loss of
Drift Cup's Venue. Drift Cup events take place in
diverse locations that range from racetracks to parking
lots. Since there is such diversity in venues poor
conduct will not be tolerated, as a precaution for
the event itself.

they will lead to explosion from the event.
Vehicular
Waste Products and Garbage

is key to leave our venues as good of conditions as
we arrived. To do this, we require that all normal
trash should be disposed properly. When you arrive,
we ask that you become aware of your surroundings

acquire vehicular waste such as liquids or other items
other than normal waste, please consult an official
for proper disposal. We also encourage you to bring
your own methods of waste disposal. This allows us
to use venues continually.
